Al-Kabir Polytechnic is one of the first private technical institute of Jharkhand, India established on 1990 (then Bihar). It is recognised by State Board of technical Education, Jharkhand and Approved by AICTE Government of India. The institute is run by Kabir Welfare Trust. It offers three years diploma engineering in various branches.

The College campus spread over an area of 12-acre (49,000 m2) is located in Kabirnagar, having covered area of 76,000 sq ft (7,100 m2). Admission is taken on the basis of all Jharkhand Entrance Test for Diploma Engg. It is held once in a year. The required information for admission is advertised by Deptt. of Employment and Training, Govt. of Jharkhand in prominent news papers.
Admission forms are made available on payment through identified Bank and Post Offices. Applicant are required to appear for a written test of three hours duration in subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and G.K. of Matriculation level, on a specified Date, Time and Venue. Successful Candidates are subsequently called for counseling to allot the College and Branch of study based on performance in the Entrance test and Candidates preferences.
Admission is taken on the basis of list of candidates received from Deptt. of T&E within a specified period relevant documents, Certificates and Fees etc. are deposited in the college by due date specified. Latecomers may not get admission.
